Activities:  Bangkok City Tour

Today, you will take on no less than four of Bangkok’s finest temples and a tour around the city’s fascinating canals.

After breakfast at hotel, we start our trip at Wat Traimit - home to the world’s largest solid golden Buddha - before hopping across the old city streets to see an even larger Buddha statue at Wat Pho. The one here may not be solid gold, but it impresses even more thanks to its sheer size and the fact that it is ‘leaning’ on its side - a reference to the Buddha’s “Lion Sleep” position. Our next stop is the magnificent Grand Palace, another sprawling temple complex boasting some of the finest Thai-Buddhist architecture in the entire country. We continue exploring the vast grounds and numerous dazzling buildings, including the highly-revered Wat Phra Kaew, home to the prized Emerald Buddha statue dating back to the 14th Century.

After grabbing lunch, we spend the better part of the afternoon on the water, meandering through the quaint canals and taking in the quieter side of life from the seat of a traditional ‘long tail’ boat. Of course, a tour of Bangkok’s Thonburi side isn’t complete without the spectacular and iconic Wat Arun - take time to explore the iconic temple towering 79 metres over the Chao Phraya River.

Activities:  Discover Ayutthaya by minivan

Today, you will discover the historical highlights of Ayutthaya by minivan and boat on this day trip to the ancient capital of Thailand. Departing from Bangkok in the morning, we first reach Bang Pa-In Palace, boasting a mix of European, gothic and Thai-Buddhist architecture. There’s time to explore the vast grounds that include several temple complexes, a watch tower and a tranquil lake. Then, we hop back into the minivan and take a short trip to Wat Yai Chai Mongkol on the eastern banks of the Pa Sak River, a temple said to have been built by King U-Thong as the place for monks returning from Sri Lanka to rest their heads. Our next stop is Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, a temple that forbids monks to enter (due to its ‘royal’ status), and then on to Wat Mahathat, a highly-sacred temple famous for its Lord Buddha relics and traditional style once used as a model for other temples in the ancient kingdom. What seems to be the most prominent landmark of the temple is the head of a sandstone Buddha image entwined in the roots of a Bodhi tree.

We enjoy the lunch in a riverside restaurant before more cultural action in the afternoon by cruising along the river to see the ruins, imagine once it was the charming and glory city in the past. After tour, we take the road trip back to Bangkok, reaching your hotel around the late-afternoon

Activities:  Fly to Chiang Mai; Chiang Mai City Tour

Have breakfast at your hotel. Free time until driver picks up at hotel then transfer to airport for the flight to Chiang Mai.

Upon arrival, tour guide and driver pick up at airport then transfer to hotel to take away luggage (if you have enough time) and start city tour visiting temples.

This whirlwind tour whisks you around the Old City visiting some of Chiang Mai’s oldest and most fascinating Buddhist sites. First up, we visit the majestic Wat Chedi Luang; meaning ‘large temple’ in the old northern dialect. This example of Lanna-Buddhist architecture at its very best - even though time has clearly taken its toll on the ancient structure. Then we explore intricate carvings and stunning hand-painted murals inside the main temple building while taking in the serene, peaceful atmosphere.

Our next destination is Wat Phra Singh - or Temple of the Lion Buddha - one of the best places to check out classic Lanna art and historical literature. Next, we make our way to Chiang Mai’s oldest temple, Wat Chiang Man - a magnificent structure that dates back to the 13th Century - before arriving at the final destination of Wat Suan Dok, which literally translates to ‘flower garden temple’, we admire the enormous 500-year-old Bronze Buddha here. After tour, driver and tour guide will take you back to hotel.

Activities: Visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep; Fly to Koh Samui

Today, we head half-way up Doi Suthep - the mountain that towers over the city of Chiang Mai - to find the highly-revered Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. A visit here is an absolute must for first-time visitors, and part of the allure is in the journey getting here. We make the exciting drive up along the long and winding road to enjoy a surprisingly cooling of the surrounding air as you ascend.

We arrive at the temple and leave the car behind to start the walk up to the top. Opt to conquer the 300 steps, or swap two feet for a cable car instead. At the top, we explore the central chedi adorned in golden flakes, renowned for its glittering façade under the mid-day sun. The architecture, statues, murals and shrines seen here are nothing short of breathtaking, and promise commanding views over the surrounding wilderness.

After tour, tour guide and driver will take you to the airport for the flight to Koh Samui. On arrival, our driver will pick you up and transfer to hotel. Free time for the rest of day.
